Obituary of Edward C. Renz
We bid farewell to Edward Charles Renz, a true friend and beacon of light, who departed from this world on May 13th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Ed walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone he encountered with an unforgettable spirit. He was an advocate for shelter animals, dedicating time and resources to making their world a kinder and loving place. Ed loved the water, boats, beach, cars and fun.
Born on March 5, 1941 and raised in Glendale, New York and South Jamesport, New York. Ed graduated from Delahanty High School and attended State University of New York – Farmingdale and Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Ed spent his career at NY Telephone (NYNEX) and Lucent (AT&T). Ed was also a Senior Master Sargeant with the Air National Guard.
Ed was predeceased by his sister Joan (Renz) Au and her husband Charles Au. He is survived by his half-brother John Emmerich and his wife Barbara (Dunphy) Emmerich, his daughter Mary Kate (Renz) Teepe and her husband Jeff Teepe, his step-daughter Kristine (Keyes) Finkenbinder and her husband Tom Finkenbinder, his step-son Kevin Keyes and his wife Kimberlea (Davis) Keyes, and an abundance of other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center (www.littleshelter.org) , a cause deeply important to Ed.
Visitation 2-5 & 7-9 PM on Friday May 17, 2024 and 10-10:30 AM on Monday May 20, 2024. Interment Calverton National Cemetery, with U.S. Air Force Military honors, at 11:30 AM on Monday May 20, 2024.
