Obituary of Clara M. Wilsdorf

Clara Wilsdorf, 93 passed away on June 6, 2024 at Huntington Hospital, Huntington New York. She was born in New York, New York and was the daughter of Elena and Antonio Guglielmo. Named Clara at birth, she later in life preferred to be called "Clare". She was also given the name "Marema" by her granddaughter who could not pronounce grandma. Clara leaves behind her beloved husband, Artie of 70 years, her daughter Cynthia Schumm and son-in-law, Thomas Schumm, her son Arthur Wilsdorf Jr. and wife Lenore Infranca. Five grandchildren Artie, Amanda, Mark, Meaghan and Kaitlyn; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn, and Aiden. She joins her mother and father, her three sisters Gilda, Jean and Dorothy. She was very close to her three sisters all her life; they were referred to as a group "The Sisters". She was always happy to be with them at family gatherings. They all have predeceased her, and now they are all reunited in heaven.

Mom had many interests and skills, one of which was her talent to draw and paint. She loved architecture and to design spaces for a more easy and comfortable life. She loved to shop with her sisters. She was high tech and loved her MacBook, iPhone and I watch. She worked in real estate for many years, trying to find the perfect home for her customers. One of her favorite TV channels was Turner Classic Movies. She loved the old romance movies from the 50s-60s. She didn't like war or Western movies-but John Wayne was Dad's favorite and so she watched them for him. She always wanted to know if anyone wanted to watch one of her Marema Movies- that she was always saving.

Mom was honest and genuine and knew what she wanted and you weren't going to change her mind. She was caring, supportive and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She always reminded us of how thankful she was to be sharing her life with our family. I know she loved and prayed for all of us. I miss her. She was my mother and friend.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centerport, New York on Monday, June 17th at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
