Obituary of Karen J. Horan

Karen J. Horan on June 14th, 2024, in her 79th year of Huntington. Beloved wife of the late Daniel M. Loving mother of Daniel Horan, Michael Horan (Melissa), and Shannon Horan (Adam Woods). Caring grandmother of Kai Horan Cheng, Matthew Horan and Mia Horan. Fond sister of Jocil Rogus and Joette Manko. Karen was born and raised in her beloved Detroit, Michigan where she graduated from the prestigious Cass Technical High School where she excelled in both academics and on the tennis court. Upon graduation, she enrolled at the University of Michigan where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration in 1966. After graduating she was hired by Pete Marwick Mitchell as an accountant becoming one of the first women hired by a Big 6 accounting firm. She began tutoring local teens for the SATs in 1987, where she discovered her new passion. Through this vocation, she literally changed the course of the lives of many of her students. Although she finished tutoring in 2014, she continued as an educator sharing her passion for mathematics with her grandchildren.

Reposing Nolan Funeral Home, Tuesday June 18th, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Meet at Funeral Home Wednesday June 19th, 10 AM for words of remembrance at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Northport Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital, in Karen's memory would be appreciated.
