Obituary of Kelly Campbell
Beloved wife of Dan Campbell for decades. Adoring mother of three daughters,
Maeve, Grace and Margo Campbell, who were her absolute pride and joy.
Cherished daughter of the late Donald and Saundra Hennigan. Dear baby sister
of Karen (Kenneth), the late Kevin (Linda), Kim (Jack) and Karyl. Loving aunt of
20 nieces and nephews.
Cherished friend to and of many, including Bill W.
Kelly was a graduate of Temple University with a degree in journalism and spent
many years as a news reporter. This included working as a reporter and editor
for Patch/AOL, having launched Patch's local news sites in the towns of
Huntington and Northport; the Northport Observer; and the Times of Northport.
She also worked as a staff writer at the Press of Atlantic City and the Potomac
News/Manassas Journal Messenger, and as a freelancer for The New York
Times and Newsday for many years.
After leaving the journalism field, she worked as a photographer for
Shutterfly/Lifetouch while launching a successful print on demand e-commerce
company.
She was adventurous and fascinated by unfamiliar locales and cultures,
traveling extensively in America, and to many international locales such as the
United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy.
She loved saltwater and the beach and felt blessed to live on an island
surrounded by both.
She loved New York City and made frequent trips there from her home in
Northport to visit museums, parks and restaurants with her family, always
making time to engage in one of her favorite pastimes: people watching.
She was a Northport Tigers football booster.
She was an avid gardener and plant lover who could make most anything grow.
She was a whiz at trivia and loved puzzles, board games —especially Scrabble
and Yahtzee— as well as crosswords, Mahjong, Wordle and Sudoko.
She was a David Bowie superfan. "I'm happy. I hope you're happy, too."
Reposing Nolan Funeral Home, Saturday December 7th, 11AM to 3PM,
