Obituary of Dorothy M. Faraldi

Dorothy Marie Faraldi passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, July 18, 2008, after a short illness. Survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Albert and her sons, Albert of Point Pleasant, NJ, James of Cohoes, NY, and Russell of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her brother James Manalio of Hunter, NY. She was born in North Bergen, NJ, and was a graduate of St. Michaels High School, Union City and Washington Business School, New York City. Dorothy loved her job as the costume director for Milton Berles Texico Star Theatre on NBC. After moving to Point Pleasant, NJ, in 1954, she was a founding member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Point Pleasant Fire Company No.2 and a den mother for Cub Scout pack 16. She was an avid supporter of the Boy Scout of America Troop 40 and served as a hostess for the American Field Service program, P.P.B.H.S. In 1972 Dorothys family moved to Huntington, NY, where she became involved with the Montauk Captains Association, the North Shore Animal League and the Boys and Girls Town of Italy. Dorothy loved to travel, was an avid antiquer and a NASCAR fan. But closest to her heart was the village of Colonial Williamsburg where she was a member of the foundation. To all that had the pleasure of knowing her she will be remembered as a beautiful woman, gracious hostess and above all as an optimist with a great sense of humor. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents James and Rose Manalio; her grandson Christopher Faraldi and her sister, Barbara Manalio. Also surviving are grandsons Rob, Jamie and Nicholas Faraldi. Dorothy was a wonderful mother in law to Claudia Faraldi and Michele Faraldi and was looking forward to the wedding of her grandson Jamie to Geraldine Sultana next month. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the nurses and doctors of the ICU of Huntington Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. Visiting hours will be 7 PM to 9 PM Saturday, July 19th and 2-5 & 7-9 PM Sunday, July 20th, at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave., Northport. A mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn, New York at 11 AM, Monday, July 21. Internment will be at the Lakewood Hope Cemetery Lakewood, NJ at 1:00 PM, Tuesday July 22.
