Saint, Derek J. - on Saturday March 13, 2010, 88 years of age, of Northport. Loving husband of Valerie. Lovingly survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Proud WW II veteran, as a medic of the 101st Airborne Division, 506th Regiment. Derek participated in two jumps, the first on D-Day into Normandy, and the second into Holland and also served in the Battle of the Bulge. Derek received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Unit Badge with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and Good Conduct Medal. Derek was also honored by the U.S. Congress on the 60th Anniversary of D-Day, with the Jubilee of Liberty Medal, for his heroic efforts in the invasion of Normandy. Derek was an active member of the Northport American Legion Post 694, and enjoyed competing in the V.A. Golden Age Games.
