Dave - Thank you so much for being my best friend for so long. I will never forget all the stories, experiences and laughter we shared together. There will always be a hole in my life without you here to share it with. I will miss you, friend. You were taken away from us way too soon.

Mr. T was easily one of my favorite Teachers in High School. His friendly demeanor, his love of his students and his subject, and his endless encouragement and enthusiasm for his job were a source of inspiration for both myself and many of my friends who had him. The community is less without his presence.

Dave was always very funny and kind to me, especially at a time when that was few and far between. To lose him at 35 years old can only mean he is needed in a better place. To his Mom, Dad and sisters I wish all the love and prayers I can possibly send. Rest in peace Dave.

Mr. Trachtenberg was a tremendous influence on my son, Ryan Morrison. His efforts and caring helped Ryan turn around his life from an uninspired student with no direction or dreams for college to a high achieving sophomore at UMASS with a GPA of 3.4 - for that I am eternally grateful. All our prayers and thoughts are with you

Although I had worked at Northport High School and knew of David, I had not personally met him when he wrote me while I was undergoing treatment for cancer. David gave me words of encouragement and offered friendship.
Upon my return to work, I spoke with David in person for the first time and he gave me a hug. That was a little over 4 years ago. From that time on, every personal conversation with David ended with a hug.
I saw David a few months ago. I didn't know it was going to be the last time, but I am sure he did. He hugged me and said, "I love you, My Friend."
David loved people ... colleagues, friends, students. He showed no reserve in expressing that to people. He was one of the most warm and caring person I have ever known.
David, you will be missed by the Northport High School community. I, in particular, will miss those hugs. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.

Trachtenberg, as he was known to our family, was an amazing and inspirational teacher to our son who would tell us stories over dinner. It was clear that he loved Mr. Trachtenberg and he loved his class. Thank you to the Trachtenberg family for sharing him with us. He is gone too soon.

There are no words to express the sorrow of your passing nor what it meant to be your friend. You had a way of making the person you were speaking with feel like they were the most important in the world. I will miss your laughter, your impassioned thoughts, your wit and wisdom and the beam that was your smile. Your family is beloved and cherished and we will take care of them. Rest easy, rest well my friend.

Dearest David,
I am so grateful for the wit, wisdom, love, laughter, and friendship you gave to me during our years at Ithaca College and ever since. I will always cherish the late-night talks, the advice, the debate, and, of course, the wisecracks. You are so deeply loved and so deeply missed. Thank you for making a difference in my life and the lives of so many.
