Dennis Charles Dakin, PE, 62, of Lincoln University, PA passed away suddenly while clamming on Monday in Flanders, NY. He is the son of Wally and Connie Dakin of Northport, NY. Dennis had a diverse set of interests, but above all was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Dennis attended Cornell University where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. He then went to work for DuPont for 25 years before he retired and went on to management at OnBoard Chemical and finally to be the President of Potts Welding and Boiler Repair. In addition to his professional work, Dennis was a master woodworker, and his love could always be felt though his creations which will live on in the homes of his family and friends. Dennis cared for all of the people in his life effortlessly and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Dennis also loved ice hockey, fishing, music and being with his family at his family home in Riverhead, NY. He was especially proud of his trip to Woodstock. Dennis is survived by his mother, Connie, his wife, Mary, his sons and daughters in law, Dan, Tom, Beth and Kelly, his grandchildren, Sarah, Emma, Liam and Ryan, and his brother and sister in law, Charles and Lucy. Dennis was generous, selfless and thoughtful and everyone who met him soon became his friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at the Embassy Suites in Newark, DE on Wednesday July 10 from 5-9 pm.
