My father-in-law, Nick, was an amazing person. He was the hardest working, most energetic person I have ever known. Nick would work long hours at the deli and the restaurant and it didn’t stop there. I would tell him “no grass grows under your feet” because when we would come to Long Island to visit him, Nancy and the boys, he was always building something or doing something. One trip, we discovered he was digging an in-ground swimming pool for the boys. Another visit, he was extending the family room over the garage. Another trip, he built a system to heat the pool water. We would ask his advice on household repairs and he would say – that’s simple – but to us he could have been describing how to build a rocket ship. He was amazing. Nick would get home from work on a Saturday and then cook for all of us when we visited. I will truly miss those meals with him and the family.
His strong work ethic he passed on to my husband, his son John, and Nick, for that we are forever grateful. I am certain that legacy will be evident as Nick’s three boys, Alex, Jim and Greg, grow into men. Nick, we will miss you. You will always be in our hearts.
