There are many reasons that this loss is so unbearable and the brokenness I feel by your passing is so overwhelming. Kace, you are soooo special to me and will always be. In a season of my life, when I felt like I was drowning, you showed up and were my life support. Even in the mess and craziness of our lives, you had love and patience, comfort and joy, and shared it with me and the children without reservation when we were on empty. I am forever grateful for your friendship, getting to be “roommates” and workout partners, and just doing life with you.
I am devastated that you are no longer here to do life with. These last days have been a rollercoaster of emotions. But in all this heartbreak, I am flooded with moments of thankfulness and joy as I recall precious memories with you!
... Mimosas (and you making fun of all my “osa” drink ideas), WODs, walking the hill, leg day, trivia nights, tacos, floating on the lake, cookies before bed, meal prepping, Junebug eating your boots, late night movies, never ending puzzles, band practice and concerts in the basement, wine tastings & beer flights, car washes, major squirt-gun fights, eating a lot of cheese (lots of cheeses), wedding planning, laying on the floor and cuddling with June after a huge meal, painting our nails, spontaneous dance parties, helping the kids with their homework, getting legendary donuts, teaching me how to Snapchat, epic games of hide and seek in a dark house, soaking in sun rays (when we finally got some), your love of Christmas and dressing to the nines, always participating in spirit week, sharing the best music with me, driving in the bug, dancing at the Royal Bear, and finding awesome new restaurants together!
Your passion for life, your smile, your hugs, your “welcome home”, your ability to love genuinely and bring laughter to everyone will be immensely missed. You will always be apart of our family, I will miss you more than I know how to express. Thank you for loving me as I am, for being such a great example of acceptance and kindness and showing us how to live life to the fullest. Rest in peace my dearest friend, I will hold onto your light forever and your memory will live on in our lives! I love you!
And to Karen, Marty, Karlie, and Anthony, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Kacie had all the qualities and characteristics we all hope to find in a person, and when you do, you never let go. I will keep you all in my prayers and ask for God’s peace, comfort, and strength to rest upon you.
All my love, Kari

From the first day of fourth grade I adored you. That will never stop. You were a bright light in a world that needs more kindness, joy and love. I was so proud when you became a teacher- and a special one at that. Thank you for being in my life, for Karlie, and for your Dad. You have touched so many, and you will never be forgotten. The love you make is the love you take. Love- your broken-hearted and still adoring teacher.

I want to express my deep condolences to Tony Buchanan, Kacie's family and the Buchanan family. I am so very sorry for your loss. When I think of my memories of Kacie, several come to mind. The first is when Tony brought Kacie to her first Buchanan Christmas. I was so excited and happy for Tony because they were so in love with each other and she just completely fit with the family. I remember them cooking together in the kitchen and loving how they just meshed so perfectly. I loved the story of how they met. The energy of their love for one another has always been so powerful every time I saw them together. Another memory is talking with her about her students and her passion for teaching. Her love and dedication to her students was inspiring. Finally, being able to attend their incredibly fun and beautiful wedding and watch them unite together was something I will always be thankful for. There are no words to express what a tremendous loss Kacie's passing is to our world. However, this world is better because of her. And for that, I am thankful. Rest in peace dear beautiful Kacie. I will miss you. Aunt Lizzie. (Elizabeth Buchanan)

Kacie snd I shared the same soul, there is not a holiday no matter how small that would not get a decoration of some kind. I recognized that joyful heart as soon as I met her. Not too long ago I was walking thru a store with Julie and I could not keep my hands off the fall decorations and Julie laughed saying she could see kacie doing the same thing. But the most honored I have ever been was when kacie asked me to make cookies for her wedding. We talked about which ones to make, I packed my supplies and headed down to Florida to start baking. She stopped over a couple of times to help and we laughed and baked and maybe snuck a cookie here and there, quality control. The wedding was magical and she was a most beautiful bride. But that was Kacie's real magic she was as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. Gracious with her time and giving of herself to others. She was a sweet soul and the world is just a little bit darker without her in it. The hole that is left in our hearts will fill with such wonderful memories and she will be a part of our lives forever. My prayers are for those she leaves behind who will have to travel on without her. She will be waiting for when she is reunited with her love ones again. Good bye Kacie you will be missed dearly

I had the honor of meeting Kacie when she arrived to JMU as a freshman and became one of my son's best friends. They grew up together during those four years, always supportive of each other and the choices made. I looked for her in the band at every football game. She was warm, kind-hearted and always smiling. The light is a dimmer today from our loss.

One of my favorite memories of Kacie is when she first saw her new house in Virginia. Anthony had chosen the house without her seeing it. What a trusting soul Kacie was! I saw pictures of her twirling around like a kid on a playground. And then she suddenly plopped down on the floor of the dining room, arms and legs spread wide, and screamed “II LOVE THIS HOUSE!”
