Owen Coleman was a Gentle Giant. A man of Big Presence, Daring Visions, Outsize Talents and a very Big Heart. The imprint he leaves behind on the many iconic brand images he created for America’s most visible Fortune 500 companies will be with us for the rest of our lives.
His family was at the center of his life and with his wife Ellen he found a partner who let him be the Force of Nature and the Free Spirit that he was. She was his strongest support, his fiercest protector and his constant source of love and inspiration.
If you were lucky enough to be his friend, he was yours for life. I met Owen and Ellen by happenstance on a trip to the South of France where we stayed at a charming Relais & Chateaux. We separately decided to let our fellow travelers move on while we enjoyed the beautiful gardens and the pool where we stayed.
Over lunch we discovered how many people and interests we had in common. Soon our acquaintance turned into a friendship I have enjoyed for more than a decade. I have had the privilege of staying with Owen and Ellen at his most daring project: his private villa Caille Blanc, on St. Lucia, a testament to his vivid imagination.
I will miss his sparkling personality, his never ending quest for new worlds to conquer and the bright light he brought into my life.

Dearest Owen,
You always knew when to make an exit, dear Owen, best friend. I just didn’t see our adventure in life ending so soon.
We love you and we hope you are scoping-out the best spots in heaven for us to enjoy one day.

I was heartbroken to hear of Owen’s passing; the loss is more painful than I could have imagined. Owen was a towering talent and a larger-than-life personality, whose light shone brightly in everything he did. His 1000-watt smile could light up any room, and his deep wisdom was matched only by his boundless energy, sincere compassion, and invincible sense of humor. I found his zest for life profoundly inspiring. He was unfailingly kind to his friends and fiercely devoted to his family, always offering support and warmth to those around him. I mourn his loss and extend my sincere condolences to the entire Coleman family.
Rest in peace, Owen. I’ll miss you, man!
